Dr. Brent Cardwell
Dr. Cardwell is originally from Kansas and attended Kansas State University, completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Chemistry. He continued his studies at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he earned many honors including an award as the top student in Neonatology (care of newborn infants). While in Medical School, he realized his passion for ensuring the care and well being of children and went on to complete his pediatric residency training at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. While in residency, he met and married Dr. Jennifer Cardwell (who is also a pediatrician). They have lived in Austin since 2001 and have two daughters, Grace and McKenna, who keep them very active with soccer and dance.
Dr. Cardwell is board certified in Pediatric medicine which identifies him as a specialist in the care and treatment of infants, children, and adolescents. He has a special dedication to the diagnosis and management of patients with asthma as well as ADD/ADHD. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for Dell Medical School and The University of Texas-Medical Branch, Austin. He was a member of the Dell Medical School Curriculum Task Force to help establish the Pediatric Curriculum for the new medical school. He also serves as a Preceptor for Residents in the Dell Pediatric Residency Program. Dr. Cardwell is an active member of the Texas Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics and serves as the Chair of the Pediatric Council. He is also President of the Central Texas Primary Care Alliance Texas Medical Association and a Board Member for the Viper Nation Education Foundation. He is CEO of Austin Health Partners, a conglomeration of independent primary care practices in Central Texas.
