Doctor Avni Shah

Doctor Avni Shah is a board-certified pediatrician, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She has a strong interest in caring for the whole child and supporting families beyond a single concern. To provide more comprehensive care, she pursued certification in obesity medicine and now works with patients through a health and wellness–focused approach.

In 2024, Doctor Avni Shah also became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. As both a physician and a mother, she understands the challenges families face with breastfeeding and the limited support that can exist. Her goal is to care for infants and toddlers not only medically, but nutritionally, while advocating for parents throughout their feeding journey.

Doctor Avni Shah was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and her pediatric residency at Loyola University, where she received the Magis Star Award for excellence in patient advocacy.

After several visits to Austin, she and her husband made the move in 2013. She is now the mother of two girls and enjoys spending time with her family, watching good movies, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
