Asthma Care

Cedar Park Pediatric & Family Medicine has received the highest level of recognition (Level III) through the Bridges of Excellence (BTE) Asthma Care Recognition Program for meeting specific benchmarks on measures such as: lung function testing and monitoring, appropriate medication therapy, smoking cessation, annual influenza vaccination, and patient self-management plans.  The BTE Care Recognition Programs are Clinician Recognition Programs intended to identify clinicians who deliver high-value care to patients with specific chronic conditions.

We offer the convenience of in-office lung function testing (spirometry) for patients with breathing difficulty or specific diseases. Some indications of the need for spirometry include:

  • Asthma
  • COPD/Emphysema
  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Persistent cough

Spirometry

Spirometry is performed under various conditions with the patient breathing into a tube attached to the machine, which calculates the amount of air the lungs can hold and the rate that air can be inhaled and exhaled. The results of the test are compared with those of healthy individuals of similar height and age, and of the same sex and race.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
