Dr. Avni Shah is a board certified Pediatrician, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and American Board of Obesity Medicine Diplomate.  Dr. Shah has always had a special interest in looking at the patient as a whole. To ensure she could provide more comprehensive care, she certified with the American Board of Obesity Medicine. With this, she conducts a health and wellness program with her patients.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that Dr. Shah is now also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She pursued her IBCLC certification in 2024 with the hopes of being able to provide better care to our youngest of patients from newborns through toddlers – not only medically but nutritionally. As a mother, she has experienced the challenges associated with breastfeeding and the limited resources available to help new and experienced mothers. As an IBCLC, she hopes to be able to better advocate for her babies and their mothers in their journey.

Dr. Shah was born and raised in Chicago, IL.  She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BS in Biology and minor in Psychology.  She completed her medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and her pediatrics residency at Loyola University where she was given a Magis Star for going above and beyond with regard to patient advocacy. Over the years, she visited Austin several times and eventually moved here in 2013 with her husband. She now has 2 girls and enjoys spending time with her kids, watching good movies, traveling and trying new restaurants.
