Dr. Sarah Givner grew up on Long Island, New York. She attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and graduated cum laude, majoring in history and minoring in French. After finishing her post-baccalaureate at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland she returned to Long Island to attend Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Before finishing medical school, Dr. Givner completed her master’s degree in public health at Columbia University to increase her understanding of the social, political, and economic contributors to health.
Ready to put her education into practice, Dr. Givner completed her residency in Social Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, a program which emphasized the social determinants of health.
Dr. Givner is thrilled to have made the move to Austin with her husband, Sam, a native Texan and UT alumnus. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, movies, modern and contemporary art, comedy and pop culture. Since moving, she has enjoyed exploring new restaurants, attending AFS screenings and visiting Austin’s many public parks.
